Golf

The Rarotonga Golf Club welcomes visitors to play on its 9-hole course. The green fee costs NZ$15.00 and you can play the course twice. You can also hire a set of clubs for another NZ$15.00. The golf course is open weekdays from 8am to 4pm and also features a 19th hole (the all-important club bar!) Saturday is for members only and the course and club are closed on Sundays. The Rarotongan Golf Club is located in Nikao on the Western side of the island. Phone 20621 for information.


Tennis & Squash

Several of the hotels, namely The Rarotongan Beach Resort and Spa and The Edgewater Resort & Spa have good quality tennis facilities. The Edgewater also offer tennis coaching. The tennis courts at the resorts are open to non-guests. Squash courts are also available for hire.
While you can hire gear here, it may pay to bring your own racquet.


Horse Riding

Aroa Pony Trek is a nice way to meander around the South West of Rarotonga. Aroa Horse Trek offers a two hour trek on horseback. Booking is required. The horse treks run Monday-Saturday and are NZ$50.00 for an adult and NZ$30.00 per child under 12 years. You can phone them on 682 21415


Rugby/Rugby League

Both rugby and rugby league are big sports for the Cook Islands. Rarotonga’s Tereora College is home to the stadium used regularly for national and international games. If you are interested keep an eye out in the local media for games being played. All games at the stadium attract a crowd of enthusiastic locals however everyone is welcome so grab yourself a ticket and enjoy some local sport!
